You may have heard this weekend that the CDC has added another group to the “may get a Booster Shot” list. School employees are on that list. The details are outlined below. For your convenience we have provided a list of area pharmacies that provide the Vaccine, Booster and Flu shot. Due to the Wisconsin State Health Department ongoing changes in guidelines, the District is deferring to local medical and pharmaceutical professionals to administer flu shots and COVID vaccines/boosters.
The booster shot has only been approved for PFIZER-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine and must be administered at least six months after the completion of the primary Pfizer vaccine series. (As a reminder the majority of SDJ employees received their 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine on February 12, 2021 - 7.5 months ago.)
What groups are eligible for the Booster Shot?
The CDC recommends that the following groups should get a Booster Shot:
People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings.
People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting based on their individual benefits and risks.(Includes school employees.)
