For the 2026-2027 School Year

You may complete your child's K-12th Grade enrollment online.
If you are not a School District of Janesville resident, you MUST complete an Open Enrollment Application BEFORE you can complete an Online Enrollment.
NOTE: You must use a laptop or a desktop to do this; it will NOT work on your phone.

Open Enrollment from Another School District

Public School Open Enrollment Timelines

The State of Wisconsin has announced that the application period for open enrollment (also known as public school choice) begins in February for the following school year. Open Enrollment laws permit children to attend a public school in a district other than the one where they live. This year, applications will be accepted February 1 – April 30

Enrollment in a requested school or program is subject to space and other limitations and is not guaranteed. Transportation is the parents' responsibility. Habitual truancy may result in a recommendation for the student to return to their home district.

Under the School District of Janesville board policy, students who attended the district under open enrollment the previous year are not required to reapply for the following school year.

An application is required for each sibling in the family. For example, if a family has one child in elementary school who has been approved for open enrollment and a new student entering kindergarten next year, the new student must apply for open enrollment to attend the School District of Janesville.

If, during the school year, you move outside the School District of Janesville and wish to remain at your current school, please contact the Open Enrollment Specialist to schedule an appointment to request a tuition waiver form within two weeks of your move.

This will make you eligible to attend your current school tuition-free for the remainder of the year. To continue attending the School District of Janesville after the current school year, you will also need to complete an open enrollment application. Application instructions for the School District of Janesville are provided by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and should be available by late January.

Online registration MUST be done each year for each student in your household that attends the School District of Janesville.

STEP 1: If you are the primary household parent/guardian, please register online by logging in to the Campus Parent Portal
STEP 2: Click on the words "Online Registration" in the lower left-hand corner of the page. Then click on "More". Then follow the steps.

If you need assistance, you can call your student's school, and the secretary can help you reset your username and/or password.

REMEMBER: Every year, parents and guardians must complete the online registration process

Transfering From One Janesville School To Another

Due to Move:

If you move within the School District of Janesville during the school year and wish to remain at your current school, please ask the school office for a Request to Remain in Current School Following Move to New Attendance Area Form (blue). Complete the form and return it to the school office.

Please note: if you are moving to an address outside the School District of Janesville, in most cases, your child is eligible to continue attending the School District of Janesville as long as you complete the required paperwork within the specified timeline.

If you have any questions about school placement for a particular address, please contact the Open Enrollment Specialist at 608-743-5152. The New Student Enrollment Office is open year-round.

If you are the parent of an elementary student and will be moving over the summer months when the elementary schools are closed, please contact the Open Enrollment Specialist at 608-743-5152 or the New Student Enrollment Office at 608-743-5011 to complete the appropriate paperwork.

Due to Parent Choice:

If you wish to apply to have your student transferred/placed at another school within the district for the next school year, please ask the school office for a School Transfer/Placement Within the School District Form (yellow). Completed forms will be accepted only from December 1 through December 15 of that year. Submit your Request for School Transfer/Placement Within the School District Form (yellow) to your home school attendance area office. Parents applying for a Request for School Transfer/ Placement Within the School District will be notified of approval or disapproval in January. Parents applying for a Request for School Transfer/Placement Within the School District for incoming Kindergarten students will be notified of approval or non-approval after they have enrolled their child during the Kindergarten Enrollment period with the New Student Enrollment Office. If you have questions, please contact the school office of your home school attendance area.

More Information On Enrollment

How Enrollment Works

Once you have made an appointment, please come to 101 N. Parker Dr. (back side of the BMO Bank - downtown Janesville) and arrive at least 5 minutes early. Late appointments may have to be rescheduled.

You may print your own papers and fill them out at home, then bring them to your appointment. You may also request to pick up the needed paperwork prior to your appointment.

When coming to enroll new students in our district, please bring:

All paperwork filled out ahead of time
Parent/Guardian Picture ID (Driver's License, State ID)
Proof of residency (copy of lease, utility or other bill, or bank statement dated within the last 60 days which includes your name and address).
Student's Birth certificate
Student's Immunization Record
Name, address, and telephone number of the student's previous school attended.
Student transcript (for high school new student enrollment only).

Parents/guardians will receive instructions on how to proceed with registration/orientation at our schools after completing the enrollment process. See additional information in the next section on how to navigate the registration process. Students need not be present for enrollment at the Educational Services Center.

Your Proof of Residency is dated within the last 60 days. (Utility Bill, Current Term Lease, or Government Mailing). The document MUST show the date, your name, and the company logo to be a valid Proof of Residency.

If any documents are missing or not valid, it will delay your child’s enrollment.

Registering Online (after enrollment is completed)

Student registration takes place for all students who are already enrolled with the School District of Janesville. (If your student has not attended school with the School District of Janesville this past year, please click the New Student Enrollment tab.)

REMEMBER: Every year, parents and guardians must complete the online registration process.

To make online registration as easy as possible, make sure you have the following information before you begin:

Household information - Addresses and Phone Numbers
Parent Information - Work and Cell Phone Numbers, Email Addresses
Emergency Contact Information - Work and Cell Phone Numbers, E-mail Addresses
Children's Information - Health/Medical Information
Doctors and Dentists - Name and Phone Numbers

To begin online registration, go to Infinite Campus. Log in using the same username and password you used last year (if this is your first year with student(s) enrolled with SDJ, you will receive your login information at the time of enrollment).

Once you have logged in, you will see a link in the lower left menu bar of your student's account titled "Online Registration." Click that link to begin the registration process. As you go through the questions, a red asterisk (*) indicates information you are required to enter. Be sure to type your information correctly, being careful of spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, and make any corrections to your contact information that may have changed in the past year.

If you have forgotten your username or password and have previously set up an email address to recover your credentials in Campus, click "Forgot username" or "Forgot password" on the parent portal login page. You will receive an email with your username or instructions for resetting your password. If you did not set up the recovery email address or have changed your email, the system will not be able to assist you. Please reach out to your child's school, or if you have other questions, please contact System Support at campus@janesville.k12.wi.us.

Kindergarten Enrollment Information

School District Residents

If you have a child turning 5 (five) years old on or before September 1, of this year; and they are not currently enrolled in a School District of Janesville Pre-school for Janesville (P4J) or Early Childhood (EC) program, it is time to enroll in the Janesville Public School District. Enrollment will take place by appointment only, at the Educational Services Center located at 527 S. Franklin St. (administration building) in the New Student Enrollment office. You may call 608-743-5011 to make an appointment to enroll.

If you cannot attend the enrollment period please come in as soon as possible to enroll. Enrollment in the district is required for participation in orientation. When you enroll, you will need your child’s birth certificate for proof of age, proof of residency (top portion of a utility bill, or current lease) to determine school assignment, immunization records and photo identification. If you have questions on general enrollment, please contact the New Student Enrollment office at 743-5011 during regular office hours, 7:30am - 4:30 pm.

Requests for School Transfer/Placement within the School District (yellow forms) for incoming kindergarten students should be submitted through the enrollment process. Forms are available at all schools. If you have questions regarding this process, contact the open enrollment specialist at 743-5152.

The status of requests will be determined by January 15, of that year and the application is turned in by December 15th. If you have a student currently attending a school under a School Transfer/Placement within the School District, it does not automatically qualify your kindergarten student for attendance at the same school; however, siblings are generally assigned to the same school. In order for your kindergarten student to attend the same school as a sibling, you must submit a request during the Kindergarten Enrollment time frame.

Non-District Residents

If you are a non-resident of the School District of Janesville and have a child turning 5 (five) years old on or before September 1, of this year, and would like your child to attend the School District of Janesville, you must also apply for OPEN ENROLLMENT.

Change of Address Information

For Middle and High School students: take your proof of residency and your ID directly to your child's school.
For Elementary students: when school is in session, take your proof of residency and your ID to the school. If the school is not open, please bring it to the Educational Services Center.
For P4J students: take your proof of residency and your ID to the Educational Services Center.

Paying School Fees

School fees are assigned through the enrollment information for each student. Payments owed will show in the parent or guardian Infinite Campus account and can be paid through the portal in that account by clicking on "Payments" tab in the left menu bar. Place the amount you will pay in the ovals next to the particular payment you wish to make, click "Continue" and the next screen will bring up different payment options that you can save in your portal.

Free and Reduced Meals Information

Children need healthy meals to learn. The School District of Janesville offers healthy meals every school day. The district provides one free breakfast per student per day. In addition, your children my qualify for free or reduced fees for lunch as well. To apply, please fill out the online form named "Meal Application".

It is recommended you gather any household income information needed and review your household members in the Household Information section for accuracy prior to starting the online application.

The USDA's definition of a household member is any child or adult living with you. An electronic signature PIN is required to submit your online Meal Benefits Application. If you do not have an electronic signature PIN created you will be required to do so prior to starting your online Meal Benefits Application.
