The School District of Janesville has 53% of its students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
With over 9,000 students in the district, that is over 5,000 students who often do not know if they will eat in between school days.
BOH’s mission is simple yet vital: to ensure that SDJ students have the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive—both in school and at home. We do this through several initiatives:
- Supplying teachers with snack bags for students in need,
- Providing $100 grocery gift cards to families during spring break, and
Distributing two weeks’ worth of food and essentials to 350 district families each December, when school-provided meals and snacks are unavailable.
Can't come to the distribution? You can purchase items for student snack bags from the Bags of Hope Wish List
Your Support can make an impact on students facing food insecurity!
Even just $20 can make SUCH an impact on the School District of Janesville student community.
- $100 donation supplies a family with a grocery gift card during spring break
- $50 donation supplies a family with two weeks’ worth of food and other essentials during winter break
- $20 donation supplies 20 students with a snack bag to help them get from school day to school day
