Board of Education

Regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings are officially posted at least 24 hours in advance. The meetings take place on specified Tuesday evenings beginning at 6:00 PM (unless otherwise posted). The meetings are held at Kennedy Elementary School - 3901 Randolph Road.

Meetings will be held in the Kennedy Performing Arts Center.  Board members, guests, and attending members of the public are asked to park in the Stonefield Lane parking lot at the back of the school building and enter through Door Number 9.3

During the board meeting, the Board officially acts on issues from the prior committee meetings and agenda items requiring a board decision that evening. Agendas for the board and committee meetings are determined in advance by the Board President and the Superintendent.

All meetings are open to the public; however, certain topics must be met in closed session. For example, a closed session is usually held for salary negotiations, expulsions, and personnel matters. The school district is governed under the open meeting law for closed sessions. Announcements must be made about the topics to be discussed in the closed session. Action taken in closed session is reported at the next regular board meeting.

The public is notified of the meetings through the local media. All meeting agendas and outcomes can be accessed through our online portal BoardDocs (https://www.boarddocs.com/wi/janesville/Board.nsf/...). The public is invited to attend and can address the board at the
