Edison Guidance Office

Edison Middle School has 2 counselors that work with students to support academic, personal/social, and career success. School counselors work with students both one-on-one and in group settings for counseling-related concerns. We also do classroom presentations to discuss sexual harassment, bullying, conflict resolution, and career development. Additionally, the counselors facilitate testing, WKCE (Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination), and MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing.

School counselors plan and develop schedules for students as well as discuss high school planning and subject selection for future classes. We welcome questions and concerns should they arise.

Attention 8th Grade Parents

You and your 8th grade student are welcomed and expected to participate in a Grade 8 Individual Planning Conference. This is not a traditional parent-teacher conference or an appropriate place to discuss discipline issues. It is a specially designed conference for you and your student to focus on your child’s current talents and interests, their educational and career development, and your student’s individual learning plan. Conferences generally last 30-45 minutes, and take place during various times throughout the school day. Your involvement in this conference is very important!

Topics covered will include an overview of high school information, high school scheduling, career plans, student interests, the Wisconsin Covenant, Individual Learning Plan and more.

Grade 8 Individual Planning Conferences will be offered during school hours by appointment beginning in November. Individual Planning Conferences will also take place during fall conference time to accommodate those who may need evening hours. Please contact your child’s School Counselor to set up an appointment.

We are really looking forward to meeting with you and your 8th grade student!

Our Counselors

Mrs. Jane Turner - 743-5928

I am Mrs. Turner, school counselor at Edison Middle School.  This is my ninth year in our district and I am looking forward to my new role at Edison.  Prior to my counseling position, I was a seventh grade English teacher at Franklin M.S. and at Edison as well.

Throughout the course of the school year, I would welcome and encourage parents to call me anytime should any questions or concerns arise with your child.  There may be specific things that you would like to share with me to help your child be more successful at school. I am responsible for students with the last names M-Z.
