Under the direction of Dr. Ehrhardt, Director of Instruction, Dr. Spiegel, Principal, CHS, Mr. Laue, Princpal, PHS, and Mrs. Lisa Brovick, High School Academic Learning Coach, the structure of the high school experience will be evaluated, altered and positioned for improved student achievement during the next 18 months. A complete overhaul of the curriculum, beginning with 9th grade and rolling up to subsequent grades will occur, with the ultimate goal of aligning curriculum with the Common Core and the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards. Major areas of consideration include: Career pathways, culturally responsive curriculum, AdvancED, 21st Century Learning, RTI/ progress monitoring, AP, and assessment using the EPAS system. Curriculum work will be completed using principles from Aligned by Design and Rigorous Curriculum Design, which are models that will increase the rigor of instruction and learning. Ultimately, success of the process will be seen through increased scores on state testing, AP and ACT testing, and curriculum based assessment results, as well as the increased ability of Janesville graduates to find success in post secondary learning.
